چکیده

Lower segment caesarean section (LSCS) is a life-saving procedure for the parturient and her baby. The frequency of caesarean section continues to rise steadily worldwide [1]. Today, caesarean delivery accounts for more than 30% of all births [2]. In India the incidence of LSCS is increased from 3% to10% between 1992-93 and 2005-06 [3]. Anaesthesia to a parturient affects both mother and fetus, so anaesthesiologist has to look over both individuals. The type of anaesthesia administered for LSCS is an important determinant of the short term and long term maternal and neonatal outcome. Each anaesthesia method for elective LSCS has their own advantages and disadvantages to both mother and neonate. Anaesthesiologist must choose the type of anaesthesia that is safe for mother, have least depressant effect on neonate and provides optimal working conditions

A Double Blind Randomized, Placebo Controlled Study Evaluating the Effect of Ondansetron in Reducing Spinal- Induced Hypotension Using Low Dose Bupivacaine in Parturients Undergoing Caesarean Section

Background: Spinal induced hypotension is the most common intraoperative complication after spinal anesthesia during cesarean delivery. Various adjuvant techniques/drugs had been used in the past to minimize the haemodynamic effects of spinal anaesthesia. Five-hydroxytriptamine (5-HT), a serotonergic receptor, may be an important factor associated with inducing the Bezold Jarish reflex (BJR) th...

مقایسه اثر هیدروکسی اتیل استارچ با کریستالوئیدها بر تغییرات همودینامیک

Aims and Background: Although controversial, many studies have shown effectiveness of colloid loading as a substitute for crystalloids on reducing the incidence of hypotension in spinal anesthesia. This study was conducted to compare the effects of three intravenous fluid regimens on hemodynamic changes following spinal anesthesia in cesarean section. The regimens included 6% Hydroxy ethyl star...

Monitoring of hypotension after spinal anesthesia in cesarean section with continuous non-invasive arterial pressure measurement

We compared continuous non-invasive arterial pressure device and intermittent oscillometric arterial pressure measurement in maintaining hemodynamic stability during spinal anaesthesia for cesarean section. One hundred American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) I-II parturients undergoing elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia were included. Based on a random number table, the partu...
